When pricing out photography it's good to remember that you are not investing in a random person to show up to your home, or wedding and snap some pictures, but rather an individual that will spend the better part of the day by your side and provide you with one of a kind photographic art that will last a lifetime and beyond. One of our favorite aspects of this crazy business are the relationships we have been able to build with our clients. We understand first hand that it's a vulnerable thing to open up your wedding, your home, or your family to a total stranger. And believe me, we know that a lot of individuals feel a bit awkward when suddenly all of the attention is on them and they feel like they have to perform. So we take a different approach. We don't want to be strangers, and we don't want you to feel nervous. So we're an open book. We want you to get to know us and we want to get to know you. We want to have coffee with you, we want to go bowling with you, Shelby will bake you chocolate chip cookies, so when your shoot day arrives we're not strangers, we're friends. One of the best things we hear after a shoot is "That's it? That was so easy!" Well yeah! You're not going to the dentist. You're being you, and we're showing how awesome you are to the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Let's get down to the nitty gritty...

Is your name really Stone?

Believe it or not, yes. It was my great-grandfather's name ... I'm just trying to live up to it.

Do you bleach your hair?

No. For some reason I just came out that way.

When did you guys get married?

We were married November 1, 2008 in Shelby's home town of Dallas, Texas. Best day of our lives.

Do you both photograph weddings together?

Yep! It's better that way.

How did you learn your photography skills?

My (Stone) dad instilled a desire to make great photography within me. I followed that desire through by taking every photo class I could in middle school and high school. I then went to University of Colorado and studied filmmaking and fine art photography. Following college I went to work with famed filmmakers at Warren Miller Entertainment. But, I still feel like I haven't "learned" photography. Photography for me is a constant process of discovery.

Who is the first photographer that comes to your mind and why?

Josef Koudelka and Richard Avedon. Go look at their work, you'll see why.

How many weddings to you book a year?

We book no more than 30 weddings a year. Dates are limited, so book early.

Can you travel for weddings and portrait sessions?

Most definitely. It's one of our favorite things to do.

What is your favorite part of a wedding to photograph?

Probably when everyone is getting ready. We love the nervous anticipation... the air is filled with excitement and I think everyone picks up on it.

Will we get to keep copies of the digital negatives?

YES! We always include high resolution digital negatives because it's what we wanted most after our wedding.

Do you do engagement sessions, bridal sessions, photo booths or any of that other stuff we've seen?

Of Course! If you can think of it, we can figure out a way to make it happen.

What kind of equipment do you use?

We currently use Canon professional gear.

How would you describe your photographic style?

Honest. Textual. Photojournalistic.

What's involved in booking you for our wedding?

To book your date and ensure that we will be photographing your wedding, a contract and 1/3 deposit are required. We book on a first come, first serve basis, upon receipt of a signed agreement and deposit. Please keep in mind that we restrict the amount of weddings that we photograph each year and dates are limited.

What's involved in booking you for a portrait session?

To reserve your session date a 50% deposit and signed agreement is required.

Should we be on time to our portrait shoot?

Okay, we know nobody would actually ask this BUT we want to stress the importance of being on time for your shoot. The times we set are based on a number of factors, most importantly being amount and type of sunlight and are crucial in receiving the absolute best from us.

Do you have recommendations for what to wear to our engagement or portrait session?

Yes, wear what you are comfortable in and makes you feel GREAT. If you feel good it will be projected onto the images. Try not to be to matchy matchy, and don't wear head to toe denim (unless thats what makes you feel great). If you're self conscious about your arms or legs, cover them up so that you'll feel your best during your session. Any other questions and concerns just give us a call.

How long will it take for you to edit our photographs?

It takes between 3 to 6 weeks for us to individually edit all of your photos and upload them to your private password protected gallery. Please understand that we are super particular and want to make sure that every photo meets our high standards before you see it AND this particularness takes a bit of extra time. We promise though, when you see the photos you will understand.

How long will it take to receive our prints or album?

Print orders are processed on a first come, first serve basis and usually take between 2 to 4 weeks for editing, printing, and delivery. Album orders are also processed on a first come first serve basis and take roughly 6 to 8 weeks to receive after the final approval is made. Albums are custom designed and printed so we appreciate your patience with this process.

Why should we print through you?

Great question. We work with a professional printer and have calibrated our machine to match their printing style. Every print we make is shown in it's true and correct color. Also, every photograph is printed on a high quality linen photographic paper and covered in an archival coating to ensure it lasts for generations to come.

Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes, and if you'd like we can set up a "registry" where your guests can contribute to your wedding package, album or prints.

We love your work but we have specific ideas about what we want. Will you work with us?

Totally. We know that every individual is looking for something different and our goal is to make you happy. Have a different idea ... lay it on us.

Why do you both do what you do?

We love people. We love making people look incredible. We absolutely adore our clients and we feel crazy blessed to be able to meet and work with so many amazing people! It's the people we meet that makes us love what we do.
